The Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani has lamented the incessant killing of Nigerians in Zamfara, especially at Birnin Gwari area of the state.
Sani called on President Muhammadu Buhari to employ the use of drones to combat insecurity in the state, adding that previous security strategies employed by the government had failed.
DAILY POST recalls that ten people were confirmed dead some days ago following the attack in Dutsen-Wake and Oho Village in Birnin-Magaji local government area of Zamfara state.
Earlier, ten communities were sacked by suspected herdsmen at Mada town in the Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Reacting to the latest killings in the state, the Kaduna lawmaker prayed for divine intervention.
According to him, even the security agencies had lost hope in protecting the residents.
Sani tweeted “The President must facilitate the use of drones by our security and defence forces to combat the activities of violent bandits in the vast forests of Zamfara & Birnin Gwari axis; the current strategy of Opening car boots at checkpoints will change nothing.
“The killings and kidnappings in Zamfara & Birnin Gwari axis have reached such a hopeless level now.
“Even Government functionaries & security & defence personals have joined the victims in praying for a Devine intervention.”
Meanwhile, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, in an apparent frustration over the banditry in the state, last Friday, renounced his position as chief security officer of the state citing his inability to take charge of security agencies in the state to end the banditry.
