The governorship candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bello Matawalle, has reacted to results of the governorship election in Zamfara State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Alhaji Mukhtar Shehu, as winner of the 2019 governorship election in Zamfara.
The State Collation officer, Prof Kabiru Bala of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, said the APC candidate polled 534,541 to defeat Bello Muhammad Mutawalle of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who got 189,452.
Reacting, Matawale directed all his supporters to accept the outcome of the elections as “an act of God”.
Matawale, who commended the peaceful manner with which the electorates conducted themselves during the elections, said it was a sign of maturity for the world to know that Nigeria’s democracy has come to stay, NAN reports.
Also, the Minister of Defence, Mansur Danali, while speaking to NAN at the Birnin Magaji residence, urged residents to accept the outcome of the result.
Danali urges them not to take the law into their hands or intimidate others over the outcome of the elections.
He commended the effort of security personnel in the management and maintenance of law and order, which he noted, was largely responsible for the peaceful conduct of the polls.
