Zambia name provisional squad for 2018 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria


Assistant coach of Zambia, Wedson Nyirenda, has released a 33-man provisional list of players, for next month’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Captain Rainford Kalaba leads the way, along with veteran goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene, Collins Mbesuma and Stoppilla Sunzu.

Nyirenda’s list is dominated by players from domestic side, Zesco United, who have seven players called.

There is however no place for Zamalek forward, Emmanuel Mayuka.

Zambia will host Nigeria at the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium, Ndola on October 9.

The squad:
