Coach of the Zambia national team, Wedson Nyirenda, has said his players are getting used to his methods, as they continue preparations for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Nyirenda took charge of his first training session with the Chipolopolo on Monday, after he was appointed as head coach early this month.

“I think they are doing fine. They are getting into shape, but as usual when you are a new coach in a team, some players may be skeptical, but I think things are shaping up and they are doing a good job,” Nyirenda told Lusakatimes.com.

“We are trying to give everyone a chance to showcase their talent, and like I said earlier, we are doing two phases at one time; that is to prepare the team for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, while we are also rebuilding the team.

“We need to formulate and work hard to build a team that will stand the test of time.”

It is understood that the players, will be released to play for their respective clubs on Thursday, but will regroup on Sunday, when nine foreign-based players will join them in camp.
