The Osun State Government has announced the provision of free train services to convey people of the state who are willing to return home for Christmas and New Year celebrations.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

According to the statement, the train will convey people from Iddo Terminus of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) in Lagos on December 22nd 2018 to Osogbo, Osun State Capital for Christmas celebration and also on 29th December 2018 around 10am for Osogbo for New Year celebration and return the people back to Lagos on January 2nd 2019.

It further said people from other neighbouring states such as Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti and Kwara living in Lagos can also join the free train provided by the Osun State Government.

The statement explained that the free train gesture was in continuation of the good work started by the immediate past administration in the state.

The statement therefore urged all those willing to travel with the train to make themselves available at designated centres, adding that the gesture is part of the social intervention services rendered to the people by the state government.

“It would be recalled that provision of free train services started on December 2010 in the state and has since been helping the people to celebrate festivities with their relations in the state with ease.

“The free train service is also being provided during other festivities throughout the year,” the statement read.
