Youths flay attack on four Northern governors

A group, Network for National Stability in conjunction with Northern Youth Development Initiative, a northern organisation has strongly dismissed the attack on four northern Governors who paid solidarity visit to the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, following the political crisis in the state.

The group in a statement signed by its publicity secretary, Comrade Mohammed Abubakar, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately order the redeployment of the state police Commissioner who, instead of finding solution is creating more confusion, leading to more crisis.

They stated that the a non governmental organisation, Grass-root Development Initiative (GDI) belonging to the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, sponsored the rally.

They strongly condemned the attack on Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano and Murtala Nyako of Adamawa, noting that the solidarity visit by the four Governors was highly commendable and urged their colleagues from other parts of the country to do same.

They recalled that a similar incident happened in 1953 when northern delegation in the Federal Legislature led by the Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa was attacked in Lagos and a reprisal attack followed, which culminated into the 1953 Kano riot.
