Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday asked the party’s national chairman, Chief John Oyegun to honorably resign.

The development came few days after a member of the party’s National Working Committee equally called on Oyegun to throw in the towel.

The APC has been in deep crisis over the recent National Assembly elections that enthroned Senator Bukola Saraki and Rep. Yakubu Dogara as senate president and speaker, House of Representatives respectively.

Their election was against an earlier stand taken by the party’s leadership.

Sources hinted that the governors were not happy with Oyegun’s poor handling of the crisis, which has since polarized the party.

The governors paid a surprised visit to Oyegun at the party’s national secretariat after their meeting with president Muhammadu Buhari.

It was gathered that they conveyed their demands to the chairman during a closed door meeting with him.

The meeting was attended by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole (Edo), Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger) Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi) and Abubuakar Badaru (Jigawa).
