A young lady in her twenties was found dead at Etta Agbor Street, in Calabar Municipal local government area of Cross River State. The corpse was found covered in a wrapper and abandoned on the road side.
An eye witness told DAILY POST that the corpse was dragged to the position by unknown person yesterday in the night. He alleged that the lady was a victim of rape.
“We were perplexed when we saw the corpse this morning; people around the vicinity were not about what happened and we had to leave the environment to avoid arrest by the Police.
“The sad thing was that the victim was stabbed to death by unknown person suspected to be her boyfriend in the night. We made spirited efforts to identify the corpse but it wasn’t possible.
“May be the suspect brought her from far and dumped her here but we don’t know her at all. Even the women and other young ladies could not identify her. We have reported the matter to the police.”
When DAILY POST contacted the Police Public Relations Officer, Ms Irene Ugbo, she confirmed the incident, but said nobody was arrested as investigations continue.
“Yes, I am aware of the incident but nobody has been arrested but investigations continue. However, we have been able to evacuate the corpse of the victim,” she said.
