You’re not experienced enough to beat me – Chisora warns Joshua

Dereck Chisora has mocked Anthony Joshua, claiming he is not experienced enough to defeat him and win the European heavyweight title.

After Robert Helenius gave up the belt, Chisora (25-5-KO17) is looking for an opponent and there have been talks between his promoter, Kalle Sauerland and Joshua’s camp.

Joshua (15-0-KO15) holds the British and Commonwealth crowns, but Chisora says he does not rate him.

“The guy is still learning the trade and the craft,” he told Sky Sports.

“He said it himself after fighting Dillian Whyte that he still has loads to learn. He’s right.

“He’s not fooling anybody. He knows he needs to learn the tricks of boxing. It’s great that it’s coming from himself that he needs more experience. He does need more experience.

“Me fighting Joshua doesn’t put me on the map. If I win, they’re going to say that I beat a novice. It doesn’t build a platform for me. I’m the mandatory challenger so we’ll see what happens.

“The situation is that he [Helenius] has vacated. I don’t know why. He says he’s going for a world title fight but we’ll have to see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

“It’s a great fight on paper but it depends on the other side if they want the fight. There’s no point him fighting for European if he can defend the British and Commonwealth title against David Price.”
