The Director, Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, Ezekiel Olusoji, has expressed displeasure over the slow rate of compliance of officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS to the directive that they declare their assets.

He stressed that they have no choice but to comply with the directive.

Olusoji, while disclosing this yesterday in Abuja said of the 11 commands in Lagos state, only two have submitted their nominal roll to the bureau ahead of the declaration exercise, though he did not disclosed the two commands.

NCS Comptroller General, Hameed Ali, had last week given his men a 14-day ultimatum to declare their assets, stressing that the directive was to ensure compliance with the rule of law.

“The officers do not have any option than to comply because it is their constitutional responsibility,” he said.

“The officers will collect the form by next week and our officials will enlighten them on how to complete the form.

“The form is technical and it is when we enlighten them that they will not misuse the form.”

Olusoji, however, ordered those who have collected the asset declaration form to return it within 30 days.
