Kogi State Government has described leaders of the Save Kogi Project as a “bunch of failures,” who are unsettled by the giant strides the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello is recording in the state.
Reacting to a statement by the group in Abuja, in which the state government was carpeted, Director General of Media and Strategy to Governor Bello, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, said the group should not be taken seriously.
Mr. Fanwo said: “They are a bunch of failures, who are trying to play politics with the future of our dear state. Our decision to sell off non-yielding assets is to enable government provide infrastructure for economic development.
“It is economic smartness to sell what does not give you income now and inject what is realised to stimulate the economy.
“The angst of the group was the failure of Governor Bello to share the commonwealth of the state with them.
“We remain resolute to moving the state forward as the people are solidly with the governor. The latest onslaught was occasioned by the embarrassing sea of heads that greeted the All Progressives Congress, APC, rally in Lokoja on February 17.
“The staff verification exercise was a huge success that saved the state billions that were hitherto wasted on ghost workers and unintended beneficiaries. We have changed the orientation of the civil servants.
“Their lies that APC was dead in Kogi was punctured and they have decided to move on to the next lie.”
