Adamu Dala Dogo, the Speaker of Yobe State House of Assembly, has formally resigned from his position.
The former speaker, who communicated his resignation via a letter sent to the Assembly, was read at the floor of the House by Dr. Garba Kurmi, the Deputy Speaker who presided over the Wednesday’s plenary.
The letter, though as learnt did not highlight the motive behind the abdication of Dogo’s power as Speaker, but stated that, it was done on personal reasons.
The House was then unanimous in accepting the former speaker’s surprise resignation and, therefore, had since elected a new speaker to steer the affairs of the legislature arm of government.
Zanna Machina, was elected as the new the speaker following a motion moved by Ibrahim Buba Kalallawa, which was seconded by Ishaku Daya.
DAILY POST gathered that, Dogo tendered his resignation so as to avoid impeachment, following a yet to be verified allegation labelled against him by members of the Assembly.
Adamu Dala Dogo, who is representing Karasuwa constituency, served as the Speaker Yobe State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2018.
