Yobe PDP elects new Chairman, warns party loyalists against gossip, fake news

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Yobe State have been warned against gossip, rumor mongering and dissemination of fake news, if they want the party to succeed in future elections.

The newly elected State Chairman of the party, Ambassador Umar El-Gash gave the warning today, Friday in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST Correspondent in Damaturu.

El-Gash said his emergence as the state chairman of the opposition PDP followed the defection of the former chairman, Alhaji Sani Inuwa Nguru to the APC at the eve of the Governorship/State Houses of Assembly elections.

The new chairman who was a former diplomat said his selection to lead the party was done based on his loyalty and integrity to the party from 1998 to date and will reposition the party to avoid past mistakes done in the last general election.

He assured that he will justify the confidence reposed on him by the party’s chieftains, supporters and stalwarts by making the party strong and vibrant.

“I will ensure that, there is unity of purpose and check and balances within the party hierarchy to avoid vacuum of power.

“An open door policy will be one the driving force of my leadership, where all my doors will be opened for any member to offer his/her suggestions, comments and observations for the development of the party,” El-Gash stated.

He warned party loyalists against spreading rumors, hatred, malice and fake news, calling on them to avoid the act which he said were factors that hindered the party from emerging victorious in the last general elections.
