The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate for Yobe State, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagun, has conceded defeat and congratulated the Governor-elect, Mai Mala Buni, for his victory in the poll two weeks after.
The candidate, who accepted the defeat in a chat with newsmen on Monday at his home town in Fune Local Government Area, saying he has resigned to his faith.
“I am a man of destiny, since that is what Yobe needs, I have taken fate in it and I don’t think if I will further venture into something that is not certain, for instance going to court,” Damagun said.
He congratulated the winner of the last governorship election in the state, Mai Mala Buni and called on him to look at Yobe as his entire constituency.
Ambassador Damagun equally called on PDP loyalists in the state to remain steadfast while thanking them for their perseverance and loyalty to the party during the elections.
“The lost in the election is a temporary setback, we are hoping that God’s willing we are going to surmount the lost in the future”, he assured.
He frowned at INEC’s performance in the conduct of the 2019 general elections and therefore, called for the scrapping of the electoral umpire.
