Yero urges magnanimity in victory as Kaduna holds peaceful primaries

Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State, on Saturday held its primary elections to elect flag bearers for the state assembly seats.

Speaking after participating in the primary election held at his constituency in Zaria Local Government Area, the State Governor, Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero commended the process describing it as a demonstration of the party’s ideology of fairness to all aspirants.

He said “I am satisfied to see that all aspirants have been provided with level play field to participate in the process. I want to call on those that emerged victorious to be magnanimous and those that did not clinch the ticket should see it as an act of God, so that we can forge ahead together to ensure victory for our party in the general elections”.

Yero said the peaceful conduct of the primary elections had shown that the PDP remained a formidable party that was poised for victory in the coming polls.

Also speaking on the conduct of the primaries, Chairman of Kaduna State electoral panel, Alhaji Habu Mu’azu said all candidates were provided equal opportunities to emerge, noting that “the days of imposition are over. The choice of candidate is now left to the delegates to decide”.

He expressed satisfaction with conduct of the elections which saw some candidates emerge through keenly contested elections while some emerged through consensus.

The PDP Kaduna state assembly primary elections were monitored by observers including those from the European Union, who went round the state to assess the exercise.
