Yero suspends campaign in Zangon Kataf over Kamantan killings

Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has suspended his scheduled political rally in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area in respect for those that lost their lives in the unfortunate attack that occurred in Yangal village in Kamantan community of the area Tuesday night.

The Governor was on Thursday at the affected community to condole with the people over the sad incidence where he called for calm as security agencies have been directed to investigate the matter.

Speaking at the palace of the Ngbiar Anghan, Mallam Adamu Alkali, Governor Yero said “this is an unusual attack because the people of this area are peace loving and we have never heard of such situation.

“There are several issues that may have led to this unfortunate attack, some people may not be happy that we are campaigning in this zone.

“Whatever the reason maybe, I want to assure you that we are going to get to the root of it and whoever is found to be behind this ugly incident will face the full wrath of law”.

He commiserated with immediate families of those that were killed in the attack and prayed for quick recovery of those injured.

He added that “we have decided to suspend our campaign in this Local Government, the only activity that brought us is to condole with you and to pray for the repose of the souls of those that were killed by the hoodlums”.

Yero called on the traditional ruler to caution youths in his domain to desist from taking laws into their own hands in such situations.

He noted that “no one knows or is sure of those behind this attack; it is wrong to attack other people on suspicion. Investigation is ongoing and may God assist us to expose those trying to cause disaffection in our state”.

In his remarks, the Ngbiar of Anghan expressed appreciation to the Governor over the visit and for the show of support to the people at this time.

He stated that “we are also confused over this attack because most time such attacks are reprisals, but we have never attacked any community, so nobody can attack us on reprisal. We are happy with the assurance that Government is investigating and we pray that God will expose the hypocrites behind this attack.”

The monarch praised Yero for his peace and security initiatives that had improved security in the state, adding that “we thank you for the assistance you gave us in taking care of those in the hospital and also with preparation for burial of those that died”.

Special prayers were held for those that died in attack with the Deputy Governor, Amb Nuhu Bajoga attending the burials of those killed on behalf of the State Government, while the Yero’s campaign train left Zangon Kataf and moved to Kachia in continuation of its tour of the Southern Kaduna. .
