Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba, Adebayor, Mikel Obi – See top 7 earners at AFCON 2013

John Mikel Obi, has been ranked as the 7th biggest earner at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. The Chelsea and Super Eagles midfielder banks an estimated income of about $6.5 million annually.

Yaya Toure, who is the current African Footballer of the Year, also plays in England for Manchester City, tops the list with an annual salary of around $22 million. His countryman Didier Drogba, who now plays in China for Shenhua Shanghai, is second as he rakes in over $18 million.

The list also includes: Mali skipper Seydou Keita ($17 million), Togo super star Emmanuel Adebayor ($15 million), Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan ($12 million) and Cote d’Ivoire defender Kolo Toure ($8.5 million).

According to a survey conducted by South Africa’s City Press, Mikel Obi also earns extra cash from his sponsors Nike, Pepsi and Samsung.
