Wikki Tourists striker, Victor Yakubu, has expressed his disappointment over his team’s failure to win a CAF Confederation Cup ticket, in the just concluded Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaign.

The Bauchi club finished the season in 4th place with 63 points, the same as third placed Nasarawa United, but lost out on goals difference.

“We are disappointed with the realisation that we could not grab any of the tickets to the continent at the end of the season,” he told SuperSport.

“Nobody is happy that all our efforts and sacrifices did not yield the desired goal at the end of the day.

“Though we won our last day match against Kano Pillars thereby finishing the season on high and same points with third placed side, Nasarawa United but the Lafia side beat us for the Confederation Cup ticket on superior goals.

“However, we still thank God that we were able to keep our position in the Nigerian top flight in our first season.

“Notable and traditional teams went down to relegation but we are keeping ours so it’s somehow a consolation.

“I’m certain that should the players stay intact we will be able to challenge for the league shield as well as continental ticket.” .
