Yahaya Bello’s government built on lies, deceit – Okai

Embattled social crusader and opposition party youth leader, Austin Usman Okai has tasked the government of Kogi state on good governance; stressing that governor Yahaya Bello’s administration has so far lied and deceived the people.

He stated this in Abuja against the backdrop of the governor’s mass procurement of vehicles and equipment for security operatives to address the security challenges rocking the state.

Okai, who described the recent purchases made by the governor as misplaced priority, maintained that returning students at all levels back to school; stopping the mass sack of civil servants in the state; paying bonafide workers their entitlements; ‎and the provision of social services were panaceas to the failing security situation in the state.

According to him, ensuring that students of tertiary institutions in the state “return to school five months after closure will go a long way to engage the youths and channel their energies to productive living instead of crime.

“The issue of security is not out place, but it will be counter-productive to ignore the entitlements and wages of workers which must be settled, if the government is earnest about fighting crime.

“It is also laughable for governor Bello’s administration, which is built on insincerity and deceit to re-award and flag-off road projects when contractors are not mobilized to site.

“How can you flag-off a project without mobilization? Isn’t that deceitful?”

Okai said the only avenue to ‎return the state to guarantee security and return the state to the path of glory is to ensure the people get social justice; to stop indiscriminate sacking of civil servants; to pay workers as at when due; and to ensure youths go back to school and are gainfully employed.

“We, the people of Kogi, are committed to a robust and egalitarian society where justice, equality and rights of people are not trampled upon,” he said.
