Xenophobia: Ezekwesili tells Buhari what to do on visit to South Africa

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to South Africa.

Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, who confirmed this development in a statement in Abuja on Thursday morning, said the 9th meeting of the commission would for the first time witness participation of the two Heads of State after an elevation.

Reacting to Buhari’s visit, Ezekwesili urged the President to tell his South African counterpart to give a speech assuring Nigerians of their stay and hospitality in the country.

Ezekwesili, on her Twitter page wrote: “Anyways, since President Buhari has decided that a visit to South Africa is useful, let me offer him some useful tips for his meetings there.

“Mr. President, listen to this for your engagement with your counterpart. He has already done some of it.

“Let the South Africa president connect with the victims [of the xenophobic attacks in Pretoria, Johannesburg], assure them that they are welcome in this country. It would help give them the social license they require to be part of this country.

“The government of South Africa really needs to offer a sincere apology to the whole continent.”
