World Cup Qualifiers: Keshi expects full squad to train this evening

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has said a full squad of 24 players will train on Tuesday in Calabar for a World Cup qualifier against Kenya.

The African champions host Kenya on Saturday in continuation of the qualifying tournament for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“We will have a full house for Tuesday’s evening training and from there we see how ready the players are for the task at hand,” Keshi said.

Three foreign professionals, Fegor Ogude, Austin Ejide and uncapped Michael Babatunde joined the nine players from the domestic league to work out in the southern Nigerian coastal town of Calabar.

Italy-based winger Nnamdi Oduamadi and new invitee John Ogu are expected to join the training camp early on Tuesday, while the rest of the invited 15 foreign pros will report in time for Tuesday evening training.

On Monday, 12 Super Eagles trained for the first time in Calabar ahead of this weekend’s World Cup qualifier against Kenya.

The team departed for training at about 3:30pm at the Abraham Ordia Sports Complex inside the University of Calabar and will repeat same Tuesday and all through the days leading to the match against Harambee Stars.

The team had a light training session with the UNICAL football team before they went into their own session that was supervised by Keshi and his assistants.
