West Ham United Pablo Zabaleta, has expressed shock over the performance of Argentina in their 3-0 loss to Croatia in the World Cup Group D on Thursday.
The defender who was left out the World Cup squad by coach Jorge Sampaoli, was even more shocked that Lionel Messi could not fire a shot on target.
The West Ham right-back saw his country fall to a heavy 3-0 defeat last night after goalkeeper, Willy Caballero made a shocking error to give Croatia the lead.
Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic wrapped up the win.
He said on BBC, “No, no no I can’t remember to be honest, a performance like that, I can’t remember in a long time.
“We can talk about the Caballero mistake that probably cost that game, but it was not only that mistake.
“I think the team looks very poor. We haven’t seen probably a shot from Lionel Messi in the second half. You’ve never heard that many times.
“He took (Sergio) Aguero off, why can’t they play (Gonzalo) Higuain and Aguero both.
“If I’m a Croatian defender and have to play against Aguero and Higuain, I would be more worried about it.”
The South American giants now need to beat Nigeria in their final game to have any chance of reaching the last-16.
