England captain, Harry Kane has said that Gareth Southgate’s men “are not the finished article’’ following their 2-0 defeat to Belgium in their 2018 World Cup third place play-off encounter played on Saturday at the Saint Petersburg Stadium.
Thomas Meunier opened scoring for Belgium in the 4th minute, guiding in Nacer Chadli’s cross past Jordan Pickford before Eden Hazard seal the victory for the Roberto Martinez’s side in the 82nd minute as the game ended 2-0.
It is the second time Belgium will defeat England at the tournament, after they edged their last group game 1-0 to finish top of Group G.
But Speaking after the match, Kane told ITV Sport, “This game showed there is still room for improvement.
“We’re not the finished article, we’re still improving and will only get better.
“We don’t want to wait another 20 years to get into the semi-finals and the big matches.
“We need to improve, we need to get better but that will come.
“We have made huge strides. Now it is about resting up and getting ready for the next season.”
