World Cup 2018: Toni Kroos blasts critics after scoring winner against Sweden

Real Madrid midfielder, Toni Kroos has hit back at Germany’s critics after scoring a last-gasp winner against Sweden on Saturday.

The win kept Germany’s hope of reaching the round of 16 alive.

Germany appeared to be on the brink of elimination as Ola Toivonen had put Sweden ahead in the first half.

Marco Reus struck shortly after half-time to pull the World Cup holders level but they required a win.

Kroos stepped up in the final minute to finish a sublime set-piece to snatch a 2-1 victory for his side.

“I think we deserved the late goal. We were criticised a lot,” Kroos said after the match

“You had the feeling that many would have enjoyed it if we had been eliminated. But it did not come to that.”

Speaking about the criticism that they have received at the tournament, Kroos replied, ‘If you play 400 passes, then sometimes two go wrong.

“You then have to have the balls to play a second half. But nobody will see that again.”
