Super Eagles players argued among themselves over the tactics used by head coach, Gernot Rohr, after their 2-0 loss to Croatia in their 2018 World Cup opener last Saturday.
An Oghenekaro Etebo own goal and Luka Modric penalty condemned Nigeria to defeat.
It leaves the Eagles bottom of Group D with zero point, ahead of Friday’s game against Iceland who drew 1-1 with Argentina.
The players are back in training, although those who were heavily involved against the Croats have been given time off via a recovery session.
“We have been talking about the formation and how we were set up. The arguments hasn’t ended since the defeat because just like Nigerians, we are also bothered over the loss,” one of the players told OwnGoalNigeria.
Another player insisted that Rohr and his technical crew got their tactics spot on. He blamed his colleagues for the defeat.
“People are complaining about the formation because we lost the game. But that is how we have been playing since the coming of Rohr. Errors which could have been avoided were made and that cost us the game,” he added.
