Iceland playmaker, Gylfi Sigurdsson has spoken after he missed 83rd-minute penalty in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over his team in the World Cup Group D second match on Friday.

Nigeria won the game to ensure they, Iceland and Argentina can all still qualify for the knockout with one game to play.

Musa scored twice as Nigeria bounced back from their opening defeat to Croatia.

Speaking immediately after the game, Sigurdsson told reporters that situation like that always happened in football.

He said, “Well, we are disappointed. Situation like this is part of the game.

“We played well in the first half, tried to keep to our game plan. But you know, its football. They came stronger in the second half. But all hope is not lost. We pray for luck next time.”

Speaking about the penalty he missed on the 85th minute, the Everton midfielder added, “well, it happens. It happens to everyone.”
