Egypt superstar, Mohamed Salah, has apologised to fans after they were eliminated from the 2018 World Cup without a single point.
The Pharoahs threw away a one-goal lead on Monday, to lose their final Group A clash 2-1 to Saudi Arabia.
They had lost 1-0 to Uruguay and 3-1 to hosts Russia in their first two fixtures.
Salah, who went into the tournament with doubts over his fitness, scored the two goals for his country.
The Liverpool forward has vowed to return to international football’s biggest stage, while begging disappointed supporters for forgiveness.
“We want to apologise to all the Egyptian fans who came to support us here in the three matches, I know it is difficult for them, like us.
“I just want to say that Egypt reached the World Cup after 28 years, some players here do not have the required experience. Thanks to all of them and we will back again in 2022,” he told reporters before boarding the team bus.
