World Cup 2018: How Super Eagles can hurt Argentina – Mascherano

Argentina midfielder, Mascherano has Revealed how his side plans to defeat Super Eagles in their all important last group game on Tuesday.

Mascherano analysed the West African side during a press conference on Monday, insisting that Argentina will use lessons learnt from the previous games of the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2018 World Cup when both face each other.

The former Liverpool player said if they give Nigerian players room to control the ball, Argentina would be hurt.

Mascherano said they have seen how Nigeria fared against Croatia and Iceland respectively and that will guide them in tomorrow’s game.

Nigeria need a win or at least draw against Argentina to progress to the round of 16, while Argentina need an outright win and also hope for victory for Croatia against Iceland in the other group game to progress.

The former Barcelona player said they will no doubt approach the tie against Nigeria with a game plan to frustrate Nigeria from using their pace, strength and skills in tomorrow’s game.

“It’s a team with interesting players. We saw against Iceland how they suffered in the first half and quite a lot. But they hanged on brilliantly and in the second half he showed their best game in this World Cup”, he told FIFA TV.

“You do not have to give them spaces. With spaces they do a lot of damage to you, because they are very physical players, very fast.

“We must control their strongest points to limit them, and then take advantage of our opportunities.”
