World Cup 2018: Cavani reveals why he swapped shirts with Egypt’s Salah after Uruguayan’

Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani has revealed why he asked Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah to swap shirts with him after Uruguay’s 2018 World Cup 1-0 win over Egypt last weekend.

Salah, who did not featured for Pharaoh’s due to shoulder injury, watched the entire 90th of the game from the bench as Jose Gimenez’s 89th-minute winner handed Uruguayan victory in Ekaterinburg.

Cavani, however, said he decided to take Salah’s shirt as a gift because his children see the 25-year-old as a star.

“I took Salah’s shirt as a gift for my children, who also see him as a star,” Cavani told reporters.

He added, “A draw would have left a bitter taste because Uruguay deserved to win.

“We created a lot of chances, maybe without playing so well, but the Egypt goalkeeper [had a great game] and in a moment we all fell into the feeling that the ball did not want to enter [the net].

“We won and that is what matters. We are happy although we know that we have things to improve. Now we have to rest and think on Wednesday.”

Salah is hoping to be fit for Egypt’s must-win clash with hosts, Russia on Tuesday evening at Saint Petersburg Stadium.
