World Cup 2018: Brazil demands explanation from FIFA after 1-1 draw with Switzerland

The Brazilian Football Confederation has written to FIFA, demanding explanations about the procedures used for video review, during their 1-1 draw with Switzerland at the 2018 World Cup.

Phillipe Coutinho opened scoring for the South Americans from long range, before Steven Zubar equalized five minutes after the break.

However, the confederation says it wants FIFA, to clarify the system that was used during two key second-half decisions that went against them.

The first was a push on defender Miranda that aided Switzerland’s equaliser and the second was a no-call that Brazil felt should have produced a penalty on a play involving forward Gabriel Jesus.

“These two actions constitute clear errors by the referee, which thus should form part of the reviewable decisions that are analyzed through VAR.

“The CBF requires to know from FIFA the reason the technology was not used in key incidents during the game,” the organisation said in a statement.

It also requests “video and audio recordings” that might have been used by the match officials during those plays.
