World Cup 2018: Argentina gets major boost ahead of do-or-die clash with Nigeria

Argentina players have been handed a major boost ahead of their all important last group game of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup against Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday at the Krestovsky Stadium.

The trio of Nicolas Otamendi, Gabriel Mercado and Lucas Biglia have returned to training ahead of the game.

They had failed to train on Saturday at the team’s training base in Bronnisty with doubts on their availability for the game against the Super Eagles.

Tyc Sports reports that they have, however, recovered from their physical discomforts and trained normally with their teammates on Sunday morning.

Manchester City’s Otamendi and Mercado featured in Argentina’s first two games in Russia against Iceland and Croatia, while Biglia was on the bench in the last game.

Jorge Sampaoli’s men have picked just one point from their opening two games and occupy last position in the group.

Argentina will need to beat Nigeria and hope that Iceland do not better their result against Croatia, to advance into the second round.
