Osun State chairman of the Peoples Democratic party, Hon Soji Adagunodo has slammed Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the State for allegedly eroding core values of the civil service, and terribly marginalised workers.
Adagunodo, in a goodwill message to workers on the occasion of this year’s workers day, asserted that the over seven years of the All Progressive Congress’s administration in the state had been characterised with perpetual agony and chronic economic predicament for the workers.
He assured workers in the state that the “PDP will restore the independence, efficiency and honour of the workforce and especially the civil service when elected into office in the September 22nd Governorship election”.
Adagunodo further condemned Aregbesola-administration” for serially diverting funds meant for payment of workers and retirees salaries and allowances while spending huge sums of money on his own comfort and pleasure”.
“It is on record that in 7 and half years of the PDP administration in Osun state, workers had no cause to worry about promotion and welfare matters which have now become luxuries due to the insensitivity of the present government.
“It is sad to note that the state’s health sector for example has gone on strike for a cummulative period of over 269 days in the last 7 years due to the failure of government to abide by the terms of agreement freely reached between it and the various unions in the industry.
“Same disruptions resulting from breach of agreements and clear violation of Labour laws have happened in the Education, judicial and other sectors within the same period”, Adagunodo said.
The PDP chairman, however, congratulated the Osun workforce on the occasion of Workers Day, charging them to remain steadfast in the quest of attaining a political era of dignity, decent wages and better condition of service.
