Woodward flies to Spain to complete Pedro deal for United

Manchester United chief executive, Ed Woodward, has touched down in Barcelona, to close a £22million deal for Pedro Rodriguez.

The Red Devils are desperate to complete the transfer, after they sold Angel Di Maria to Paris Saint-Germain for £44m – a loss on the £59.7m they paid to Real Madrid for the Argentine.

United manager, Louis van Gaal is said to be sceptical about Pedro’s lack of pace, but will still welcome the player, who has been marginalized at the Nou Camp by Luis Enrique.

After scoring the winner in last week’s UEFA Super Cup, Pedro was asked about his future.

“Manchester? Yes, there are nice challenges on all sides.

“Today I’m here [at Barcelona], and I’m happy. And if I go, I will go with my head held high having always given everything. These fans and this club are incredible”, he said.
