Women in Kaduna community claim KRPC toxic waste made their husbands impotent

The people of Rido community in Chikun Local Government area of Kaduna State, the host community to the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), have protested over dump of toxic waste and flares from the industrial plants in the area.

The residents who complained about the hard time they were passing through due to the chemical emission they inhale from toxic waste, said they were alwayscounting their losses. Some of the women living in the area took to the street in a peaceful protest over what they described as starvation as a result of low libido of their men to satisfy them in bed.

According to the women, who blamed their husband’s erectile dysfunction on the KRPC, the chemical wastes and fumes from the company into their environment, have contributed to their husbands’ loss of sexual potency, making them unable to satisfy their women in bed.

They also complained of neglect by the company they play host to, saying they were deprived of employment “After all, the KRPC came and met us on our fathers’ land. We are not the ones who went to settle down on their land. They don’t even care about our existence. They just abandoned us.

“Our husbands are impotent and KRPC is not doing anything about it,” they alleged.

DAILY POST investigation revealed that KRPC had empowered most of the youths in the community with a scheme, tagged, Youth Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme (YESAP).

However, some of the women denied, saying though such a programme exists, they were only given slots.

However, some medical experts and professionals told DAILY POST that if the government wants to site project such as the KRPC with industrial plants, it is advisable that they relocate people around the community instead of allowing them to

settle down around the industrial area, particularly looking at the health hazards involved.
