Photographs have emerged of some women from the tribe of Andhra Pradesh in Southern India who are desperate to get pregnant performing a ritual, where men described as “God-men” trample over them so they can have children.
The ritual which is an age-long activity is done during the annual festival of Ekadashi, in the month of July.
Women, who are unable to have children visit the Lakshmi Narasimha Swami temple, in Anantapur district, UK Daily Mail reports.
In the photographs, the women could be seen lying down in a parallel line on the ground, waiting for a “God-man” to walk over their backs.
Many claim the practice has worked, adding that it has fulfilled the wishes of countless women to become mothers.
