Woman nabbed in Ogun while attempting to dump baby wrapped in polythene bag

Resident of Oju- Oore area of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have apprehended a woman identified simply as Ibidun, who attempted to dump her two-day-old baby girl by the roadside.

The woman was prevented from dumping her baby by some residents of the area who suspected her movement on Thursday.

Ibidun was said to have wrapped the baby in a polythene bag the following day and attempted to dispose the child off.

According to New Telegraph, Ibidun gave birth to the baby on Tuesday at 6, Sanni Street, off Balogun Street, Ewupe Road, Oju-Oore, where she was squatting with her friend.

A source privy to the incident was quoted to have said Ibidun, when arrested by the residents, said she decided to dump the baby because she tried severally but could not ascertain the person responsible for the pregnancy.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the report, saying the woman would be investigated.
