Woman in court for allegedly stabbing boyfriend with knife in Lagos

The police on Monday arraigned a woman, Kehinde Ajimosu, before an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend with a knife on the stomach, hand and buttocks.

Ajimosu, 24, a resident of Akindele Street, Olodi-Apapa, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace, to which she pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp Ferdinand Asu, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 4 at her residence.

Asu alleged that the accused assaulted the complainant, Aare Aminu, by stabbing him with a knife on the stomach, hand and buttocks.

He said that Ajimosu also conducted herself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by running on the street with a knife in her hand.

The prosecutor said that Ajimosu thought the complainant was cheating on her and so, stabbed him with the knife.

He said that efforts made by witnesses to stop her from stabbing her boyfriend proved abortive.

The offences contravened Sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 prescribes a three-year jail term for an offender found guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Michael Olubi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 9, 2019.
