A middle-aged woman, Monsurat Yunus-Fadeyi, on Wednesday, sought the dissolution of her one-year-old marriage at the Igando Customary Court, Lagos, as her husband, one Abiodun Yunus-Fadeyi, has allegedly abandoned their matrimonial home.

Noting that their union was formalised on December 14, 2014, the working class lady told the court that she traveled to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on September 23, 2015, on official assignment only to return to an empty apartment.

According to the complainant, “My husband abandoned our matrimonial home since September 26.

“I traveled for an official assignment to Ogbomosho, Oyo State, on September 23. My husband followed me to the park. We didn’t have any misunderstanding before my journey.

“On my arrival, he brought touts to the house to beat me up and dragged me on the floor.”

Stating that she had reported the incident at the Isheri Police Station, she appealed to the court to dissolve the union.

“Although, prior to this, he usually beat me and whenever he does this, his parents will come in and settle us but I can’t take this anymore.”

President of the Court, A.L Omilola adjourned the case till February 8 for mention, ordering the court registrar to re-summon him since the respondent failed to honour the court summons.
