A woman who bathed her sleeping boyfriend with hot oil after an argument has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.
Manhattan District Attorney, NY, Cyprus R. Vance Jr. has on Tuesday announced the sentence of Myeshia Hawkins-Taylor for allegedly pouring hot oil on her sleeping boyfriends and repeatedly stabbed him.
The victim, Carlton Adams, 53, woke up and tried to escape, but Hawkins -Taylor stabbed him repeatedly and locked him up.
He eventually called 911, after a day fearing he was going to die.
The violence which erupted on January 30, 2016 left the victim in a medically induced coma and hospitalized for two months.
Hawkins-Taylor pleaded guilty to attempted murder last month.
According to the District Attorney, he referred to the attempted murder as a form of domestic violence.
Vance says, it’s a common misconception that only women fall victim to domestic violence, urging all victims to seek help.
