Wolves vs Man Utd: What Solskjaer told his players in dressing room

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he demanded “more urgency” from his Manchester United players at half-time before they crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Wolves in the FA Cup.

Sergio Romero kept United in the tie with two superb saves but at the other end, United’s attacking trio of Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial struggled to pose problems for Wolves’ defence.

Raul Jimenez and Diogo Jota put Wolves in front in the second half, while Rashford netted a late goal in injury time for United.

When asked if Sergio Romero’s excellent individual performance, would have inspired United’s outfield players to improve, Solskjaer told MUTV: “You hope so because at half-time we spoke about it.

“We needed more urgency, more forward passing, more running.

“Then again, Sergio made some fantastic saves, he’s played really well again.

“But that’s disappointing because they had the better of the chances. They deserved the win.”

Solksjaer also admitted that the defeat was the worst performance of his reign.

“It was the poorest performance since I’ve come here.

“The lack of the urgency forward, the lack of forward passing, the lack of regains.

“Sometimes the international break comes in handy, I think we would have loved to have played again to put it right.

“Some will have a good experience with the national teams, some will have a few days off and train hard here and be ready to push again.

“We’ve got the league and the Champions League, but very disappointing tonight that we’re not in the semis.”
