Wladimir was not himself against Fury – Vitali

Vitali Klitschko has claimed that his younger brother, Wladimir, was ‘not in good condition’ after he was defeated by Tyson Fury on Saturday.

Fury won via a comfortable point victory in Dusseldorf, to snatch the WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight titles from the 39-year-old.

Vitali, who is a former world heavyweight champion himself, feels there was something wrong with Wladimir.

“The show will go on. The audience got used to the fact that Wladimir constantly wins all of his fights. But now, in my opinion, the next fight will generate a ton of interest,” Vitali wrote in an article reported on BoxingScene.com.

“Many experts have said that they did not recognise Wladimir [in that fight, because he did not look like his usual self]. I felt the same way, because Wladimir is one of the most skilful fighters in the world.

“Usually he is in good shape and he fights strategically. This time we did not see him in good condition, no good technique. And the reasons for this we can talk about later – it’s too early to discuss them now.

“Wladimir has a lot of potential [to bounce back] and therefore the question arises – in the rematch, will Wladimir arrive in great shape or was it a mishap? Only Wladimir can answer that question. Let me just note that we are yet to see the huge potential of Wladimir.”

Wladimir has already confirmed he will exercise a rematch clause in the contract with Team Fury.
