Wilshere fined £40,000 over Spurs chants

Jack Wilshere has been fined £40,000 and “severely warned”, after his conduct during Arsenal’s FA Cup victory parade.

The England midfielder led Gunners in songs targeted at their rivals Tottenham Hotspur and included swear words.

He asked fans: “What do you think of Tottenham?” Supporters replied: “s***”.

Wilshere added: “What do you think of s***?” And the fans replied: “Tottenham”.

A statement released by the FA read: “Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere has been fined £40,000 and severely warned as to his future conduct after admitting to a charge of misconduct.

“Wilshere was found guilty of making and/or inciting certain comments during the club’s open bus trophy tour after their FA Cup Final victory, with his conduct deemed to be improper and bringing the game into disrepute.”

Earlier, the 23-year-old admitted he was surprised that the FA decided to charge him over the incident.

“We’ve worked hard all year and we’ve won a trophy. That’s the best feeling in the world,” he said.

“No matter what job you do, if at the end of the year you get a promotion and a bonus, you’re going to go out and celebrate. So, I think that side of things was a bit harsh”.
