Wike, two former ministers pick PDP nomination forms

Three members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) who resigned their appointment to pursue their political ambitions have picked up nomination forms to contest the governorship primaries on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in their respective states.

The three, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu-Health, Mr. Nyeson Wike- Education and Darius Ishaku-Power picked their forms on Tuesday at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

Wike’s delegation was led by the former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Austin Okpara and Chief Sergeant Awuse, who are also members of a group of stakeholders in the state who purchased the form for the former Minister.

The group said their decision to obtain the form was borne out the conviction that Wike has what it takes to govern the state with his pedigree as a two time council Chairman and chief of staff to the governor.

Okpara, who spoke on behalf of the group said: “The decision to buy the form for Wike is that he has all it takes to bring Rivers State government house back to the PDP that Governor Chibuike Amaechi has taken to the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

For the former Minister of power, Darius Ishaku, he said he remains the only consensus candidate from the Southern part of Taraba for the governoship ticket, adding that he has the backing of General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma.

“The south has been giving PDP the largest vote since 1999, we are appealing to our people that we deserve it,” Ishaku said.

Speaking further, Ishaku Said, “Since the accident of Gov. Suntai, there has been polarisation along ethnic and religious lines. Before now, we were living peacefully. Some of us must give our services and bring about the past glory of the state, our economy has gone down”
