The Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal has reserved 26th September for hearing of an appeal by a former Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd.

The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress from Emohua Local Government Area is facing trial for alleged attempted murder, in a case related to the fracas in the Rivers State House of Assembly in July, 2013.

DAILY POST recalls that a Port Harcourt High Court had discharged and acquitted Lloyd after months of incarceration under former Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

But the present government decided to revisit the matter, which border on alleged attack on the member representing Obio-Akpor Constituency 2, Michael Chinda.

The PDP administration, under Governor Nyesom Wike believes that the case against Lloyd was not judiciously disposed.

As a result, Lloyd had approached the Appellate Court to challenge the fresh charges.

Meanwhile, the Court of Appeal has fixed 26th September to begin hearing of the appeal, after the State Attorney-General, Emma Aguma, asked it to dismiss the appeal for lack of merit.
