Wike orders payment of sign-on fees owed ex-Sharks, Dolphins FC players

Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers on Monday approved the immediate payment of sign-on fees owed players of former Sharks and Dolphins Football Clubs .

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Boma Iyaye, Commissioner for Sports in Port Harcourt.

NAN reports that the Rivers Government merged Sharks FC and Dolphins FC to form Rivers United in order to achieve maximum success.

The statement said Wike gave the approval in recognition of the recent brilliant performance of Rivers United FC in the Nigerian Professional Football League matches.

According to the statement, the away victory Rivers United had against Wolves in Warri, Delta excited Wike to give the approval.

“The sign-on fees to be paid are for 2013/2014”, the statement said. (NAN)
