The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last general elections in Rivers State, Dr. Dakuku Peterside has urged the people of the State to remain committed in their pursuit for peace.

Peterside made the call while addressing a group of young members of the APC in Port Harcourt.

The APC candidate, who described peace as the principal thing towards achieving development, also called on the people to support a government that is committed to improving the welfare of the people.

On his opponent, Nyesom Wike, the APC governorship candidate accused him of being “rudderless” in his leadership style.

Peterside further accused the Rivers State Governor, Wike of running government in an ungodly manner just as he said Rivers State needed men with the fear of God.

While receiving some defectors of the PDP into the APC, Dakuku said the people of the state will soon be given another opportunity to make the right choice.

“Our generation is one that represents peace. And we cannot talk about peace without development. You can’t have peace when you pair one ethnic group against the other. You can’t have peace when you deny people on account of where they come from. You can’t have peace if you run a government with one ethnic group. The only way you can have peace is when you have God-fearing leadership that gives everybody equal opportunity.

“The present government in Rivers state led by Nyesom Wike has failed. His government is directionless, rudderless, without the fear of the Lord and the interest of the people at heart.

“Rivers people did not put this government in place. This government does not have any foundation and as they say, a house without foundation will collapse. We will have the opportunity to elect the kind of government we want, a government that is based on the foundation of the fear of God and respect for the people of Rivers State,” he said.
