INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo, Sam Olumekun, made the disclosure yesterday in Benin.
He explained that persons whose names were removed had engaged in multiple registrations.
The INEC official noted that the development would serve as a deterrent to those who were in the habit of multiple voting.
The REC also disclosed that a total of 474,000 Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) representing 31 percent of registered persons were yet to be collected in the state.
He attributed inconclusive elections to non-adherence to rules and election guidelines and called on all stakeholders to support the INEC in its quest for peaceful elections.
