Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, has revealed the player wants bodyguards to protect her.
The 61-year-old says the Real Madrid superstar, is worried she will become a target and is insisting on getting proper security around her.
She said: “When I go anywhere, Ronaldo says: ‘A mum has to have security with her,’ but I never want to.
“I feel happy and don’t feel the need to have a bodyguard with me. I live very peacefully.
“I’m more apprehensive when I’m with Cristiano but I’ve never been bothered.”
The mother of four who survived breast cancer in 2007, also said she feels better with herself.
She told Portuguese writer and TV presenter Julia Pinheiro: “I wear what I like and I don’t worry what people say about me. I feel good, better than when I was 30.”
