Odion Ighalo has said that Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, did not leave him out of this month’s friendlies against Senegal and Burkina Faso because he plays in China.
Ighalo said he spoke with the German and he was given permission to stay back and settle at his new club.
“There’s no truth in that. The coach did not leave me out because I moved to China,” he said.
“I spoke to him and agreed that I need to settle down in my team well first. The league will be starting in some days and I am new here.
“I need to settle down with the team.”
The former Watford striker, also praised Rohr for his understanding and always considering the situation of players.
“Rohr is a wonderful coach who understands and knows what he is doing. He has the interest of his players at heart and will always support us,” he said.
Nigeria play Senegal on March 23, before taking Burkina Faso four days later.
