David Shikfu Parradang was suspended as Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) because he illegally recruited 1,600 officers this year.
Parradang, who was suspended last week, has been replaced with Deputy Comptroller General, Martin Kure Abeshi.
His letter of suspension which leaked at the weekend disclosed that Parradang was ousted as a result of “deliberate disregard to the extant laws, insubordination to constituted authority and improper behaviour inimical to the Service that is unbecoming of a public officer.”
The letter with the reference number: CDFIPB/IMM/348/Vol.1/54, dated August 21, 2015, was signed by the Director and Secretary of the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board, CDFIPB, A. A Ibrahim.
Parradang was found to have issued appointment letters to 700 Assistant Inspectors of Immigration as well as 900 Immigration Assistants III into the Nigeria Immigration Service without approval.
He also allegedly refused to take necessary corrective measures despite repeated advice given to him as conveyed in letters reference number FMI/PSO/001/III/402 of June 11, 2015 and Ref. No. FMI/PSO/001/III/411 of June 14, 2015.
Parradang and former Interior Minister, Abba Moro, drew condemnations from Nigerians over the death of over a dozen applicants during the March 15, 2014, botched. recruitment exercise into the Nigerian Immigration Service.
